What is Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a therapeutic treatment using essential oils to enhance well being and rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit. It is a very effective and popular treatment that may help to alleviate a wide range of concerns.

What are Essential Oils

Essential oils are pure extracts from aromatic plants and all have a highly complex chemical structure from which their unique properties are derived. The various qualities of essential oils may stimulate, uplift, balance, sedate, soothe or calm as a holistic therapy treating the physical, psychological (emotional, mental and spiritual) well being. Essential oils are highly potent and concentrated and should always be used in small amounts.

Our essential oils are of the highest quality, 100% natural and pure, GC/MS tested for quality and purity, traceable to source and not tested on animals.

What does an Aromatherapist do

A fully qualified Clinical Aromatherapist has undergone considerable training in the properties and chemical constituents of essential oils and body work disciplines including techniques from lymphatic drainage, shiatsu, swedish massage, reflexology, pregnancy massage, aged care with oils, with special attention to lymphatic, limbic and endocrine systems and has a sound knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

How are Essential oils used

The type of treatment may vary from client to client depending on their needs at the time. Aromatherapy treatments can involve massage, individual treatment creams and oil blends, compresses, diffuser blends, bath blends.

Why is massage used in Aromatherapy

Massage is one of the most effective mediums for the application of essential oils. The oils are diluted in a carrier oil before being applied to the body. The skin absorbs the essential oils and then distributes them via the circulatory and lymphatic systems. This combines with the various massage techniques used in aromatherapy to give a deeply relaxing treatment

easing physical and nervous tension.

An important difference between Aromatherapy and other massage is that an Aromatherapy treatment involves the sense of smell as well as touch, while massaging away aches and pains and revitalising the body, the essential oils are stimulating and calming the body.
